Seattle Kokon Taiko is a vibrant performing group that brings the drums of Japan to life through their performances and classes. They aim to contribute to the development of a uniquely Japanese American art form, weaving threads of continuity between generations and building bridges of understanding among people of all nationalities and walks of life. Their mission is to maintain and develop a Japanese American folk art based around the performance, promotion, and study of taiko, which is rooted in the art, culture, and religions of Japan and was brought to North America by Japanese immigrants. Seattle Kokon Taiko’s performances blend traditional Japanese drumming with modern rhythms, showcasing synchronized movement and intense focus. They strive to combine the old Japanese folk traditions with new American experiences, making taiko accessible to all ages and a vital part of their cultural heritage. <\/div>
